How corrections will appear

Each substantive correction will identify the entry, the previous wording, the revised wording, the reason and the date. Editorial disagreement alone does not determine factual accuracy. We will inspect the supporting source.

Correction log

Earlier draft edits and layout changes remain in the project’s version history. Substantive corrections are listed below with their reason and date.

  1. Date and headline clarification — the president’s pledge ·

Previous: September 2026, exact date open. Display headline: Trump leads pledge to “cheat like hell” in November elections.

Revised: September 10, 2026. Display headline: Trump used the words “cheat like hell” while leading a voting pledge.

Reason: The Roll Call transcript and Reuters event description agree on the date; complete-recording comparison remains open. The headline distinguishes Trump’s words during the pledge from an unestablished claim that the crowd repeated those words. The news reports’ joking or mock-pledge framing remains visible and attributed.

  2. Image-description correction — the president’s pledge ·

Previous: Notes described a withheld picture while an illustration was displayed, and the method page described a different PBS/Reuters photograph.

Revised: The entry and the method page describe the editorial illustration supplied for this project. It is not a photograph or documentary evidence. Its upstream provenance has not been independently audited.

Reason: The notes did not match the image displayed.
