We are concerned about Donald Trump’s use of presidential power. We support electing a Congress that will provide constitutional checks on this administration.

We are an independent citizen editorial project with a disclosed viewpoint. Our position does not establish a disputed allegation as fact. Readers should be able to inspect the evidence, disagree with our analysis and challenge our work.

Compassion and accountability

Compassion reaches the people affected by public decisions, including those whose experiences challenge our argument. Accountability asks who exercised power, what authority they used, what happened and what remains unknown. The standard applies to any president and to our own work.

The reader keeps the judgment

We separate documented action, allegation, legal outcome and editorial assessment. We include material qualifications and contrary evidence. We owe readers public corrections when we get a fact wrong.

The current scope
